WWE PPV 06

- - 2006 New Year's Revolution - -
January 8 in Albany, NY
IC Title Match: Edge vs. Ric Flair
Women's Title Match: Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus
Jerry Lawler vs. Gregory Helms
Big Show vs. Triple H- Not a total waste of a match. They play the angle where Big Show has sore/broken hand and has a cast while Triple H attacks it the entire match.
Shelton Benjamin vs. Viscera
Bra and Panties Battle Royal: Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson vs. Victoria vs. Ashley- Mae Young also makes a not so wonderful appearance.
WWE Title, Elimination Chamber Match: Kane vs. Carlito vs. Chris Masters vs. Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena- Carlito and and Masters team up most of the time until Cena takes out Carlito to win but as Vince says, the night isn't over...
WWE Title Match: Edge vs. John Cena- Edge finally cashes in his Money in the Bank title shot and easy defeats a bloodied and tired Cena to win his first WWE championship. I wanted to see Cena lose the title but not like this.
- - 2006 Royal Rumble - -
January 29 in Miami, FL
(Live (VG))
Cruiserweight Title Match: Gregory Helms vs. Paul London vs. Funaki vs. Jamie Noble vs. Nunzio vs. Kid Kash- Gregory Helms wins the title and will be headed to Smackdown.
Mickie James vs. Ashley
JBL vs. Boogeyman
Royal Rumble - Won by Rey Mysterio who flips Randy Orton over the top rope! He outlasts Triple H who was the first one and and was thrown out just before Orton.
WWE Title Match: John Cena vs. Edge- Cena wins the title back.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Mark Henry vs. Kurt Angle- Henry has a title shot? Thankfully he didn't win however. Undertaker does some cool special effects again and says he wants a title shot against Angle.
- - 2006 No Way Out - -
February 19 in Baltimore, MD
(Live (G/VG))
Cruiserweight Title Match- Match contains all the Smackdown cruiserweights but Gregory Helms remains champion.
Bobby Lashley vs. JBL
MNM vs. Matt Hardy and Tatanka
US Title Match: Chris Benoit vs. Booker T- Chris Benoit wins the title back.
Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton- Orton wins this number one contenders match but 2 weeks later, they would add Mysterio to the Heavyweight title match, making it a three way so this match didn't have much purpose really.
Heavyweight Title Match: Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle- Great match as we see that the Undertaker can still put on good matches but then again, it helps when the opponent is Kurt Angle.
- - 2006 Wrestlemania 22 - -
April 2 in Chicago, IL
(Home Video (VG))
Tag Team Title Match: Carlito and Chris Masters vs. Big Show and Kane
Money in the Bank, Ladder Match: Rob Van Dam vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Finlay vs. Matt Hardy- Fun match with Rob Van Dam winning it. My only knock on this kind of match is that there are too many people in it and if someone gets hit with a move, they sit outside the ring for like 5 minutes and you completely forget about them until they come out of nowhere.
US Title Match: JBL vs. Chris Benoit- I like JBL winning the match here and it will make the US title seem bigger with some of the upper-tier wrestlers fighting and winning for this championship. JBL will have a field day during his interviews and remind us many times that he is the US champion.
Hardcore Match: Edge vs. Mick Foley- One of the most entertaining matches of the night as Edge falls on the thumbtacks and you see them piercing his back! Crazy. To top it off, Edge speaks Foley into a flaming table and then we get Joey Styles doing his "Oh My God!".
Ted Dibiase/Booker T/Goldust/Gene Snitsky Segment- Normally I don't mention backstage segments listed on the ppvs but this was great. Eugene is shown bouncing a basketball as Dibiase is holding money and counting each bounce. He then gets to 98 and kicks the ball away and says, "sorry Eugene, you don't get the money.. HA hA HA!!" That classic Dibiase laugh. Snitsky is showing licking Mae Young's feet as Booker T seems to be attracted to all the "weirdos".
Booker T vs. Boogeyman
Women's Title Match: Mickey James vs. Trish Stratus- Great match (for the women's division) and the crowd couldn't possibly be any hotter, especially for Mickie James who wins the women's title while ending Stratus' long title reign.
Casket Match: Mark Henry vs. Undertaker- Undertaker does his best to make this a watchable match.
No Holds Barred Match: Vince vs. Shawn Michaels- Michaels finally gets his revenge on Vince and Shane and "unleashes hell" on the McMahons. He does a crazy elbow drop off an extremely tall ladder onto Vince who is on a table and breaks out a few DX crotch chops, much to the delight of everyone, especially me.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle- Mysterio wins the title but it wasn't as good as I thought. The crowd was totally into Angle and was booing Mysterio a little bit. Oh well, he is champion and deserves it. I hope it goes well for him.
Pillow Fight: Torrie Wilson vs. Candice Michelle- Bad place to put this match.
WWE Title Match: Triple H vs. John Cena- Could the boos be any louder for Cena here? What's up with the crazy entrances? Triple H does a crotch chop the same night Michaels does? Triple H receives the cheers and ends up tapping out to the STFU? What a crazy match. The whole night came out way better than everyone thought it would be which made it a great ppv.
- - 2006 Backlash - -
April 30 in Lexington, KY
(Live (VG))
Carlito vs. Chris Masters
Umaga vs. Ric Flair
Women's Title Match: Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
IC Title, Money in the Bank Match: Rob Van Dam vs. Shelton Benjamin- RVD picks up the IC title.
Kane vs. Big Show
Vince and Shane vs. Shawn Michaels and "God"
WWE Title Match: Edge vs. Triple H vs. John Cena- At Wrestlemania, Cena got Triple H to tap out but this time, Triple H gets pinned.
- - 2006 Judgment Day - -
May 21 in Phoenix, AZ
(Live (VG))
Tag Team Title Match: Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. MNM- Seeing how London and Kendrick was getting the better of MNM every week, the fact that they not only went over here but won the titles was pretty surprising.
Chris Benoit vs. Fit Finlay
Jillian Hall vs. Melina
Cruiserweight Title Match: Super Crazy vs. Gregory Helms
Mark Henry vs. Kurt Angle
King of the Ring Finals: Booker T vs. Bobby Lashley- Booker T wins the 2006 King of the Ring.
Great Khali vs. Undertaker- Khali goes over??? WTF?
World Heavyweight Title Match: JBL vs. Rey Mysterio
- - 2006 ECW: One Night Stand - -
June 11 in New York City, NY
(Live (VG))
Paul Heyman Interview
Taz vs. Jerry The King Lawler
Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton- Crowd is in full ECW force.
FBI vs. Super Crazy and Yoshihiro Tajiri
World Heavyweight Title Match: Sabu vs. Rey Mysterio- A sick sick DDT through the table ends the match. Crowd chanted Bullshit but if they're going to end the match from a move, that was a good one to do it on.
Mick Foley and Edge vs. Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer- Lots of REAL barbed wire used for this one and a couple of sick bumps of course.
Masato Tanaka vs. Balls Mahoney
Eugene/Sandman Segment
WWE Title Match: Rob Van Dam vs. John Cena- As was expected, the crowd was all over Cena. Edge would come in to spear Cena, which would then help RVD pin Cena to become the new champion.
- - 2006 Vengeance - -
June 25 in Charlotte, NC
(Live (VG))
Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton
Eugene vs. Umaga
2 of 3 Falls: Mick Foley vs. Ric Flair
IC Title Match: Johnny Nitro vs. Carlito vs. Shelton Benjamin- Nitro shocks us all and wins the IC title. He also got the pinfall the previous Raw so all the momentum was on his side.
WWE Title Match: Edge vs. Rob Van Dam- Another shocker follows as RVD wins to retain the title.
Kane vs. Kane- This fake Kane looks a lot like the old-real Kane.
Lumberjack Match: John Cena vs. Sabu
Shawn Michaels and Triple H vs. Spirit Squad- DX makes their in-ring re-debut.
- - 2006 Great American Bash - -
July 23 in Indianapolis, IN
(Live (VG))
Tag Team Title Match: Pitbulls vs. Paul London and Brian Kendrick
US Title Match: William Regal vs. Eugene
Cruiserweight Title Match: Matt Hardy vs. Gregory Helms
Punjabi Prison Match: Undertaker vs. Big Show
Bra and Panties Match: Krystal vs. Ashley vs. Jillian Hall vs. Michelle McCool
World Title Match: King Booker vs. Rey Mysterio- Booker T wins his first "WWE" title here after Chavo Guerrero nails Mysterio with a chair, a turn everyone and their mother saw coming.
- - 2006 SummerSlam - -
August 20 in Boston, MA
(Live (VG))
Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio
ECW Title Match: Sabu vs. Big Show- I have to agree with Joey Styles, a No DQ match is the only way the ECW title should be defended. Match was ok but nothing great. There is something about Big Show that will never give an ECW title match that special something that it needs.
Randy Orton vs. Hulk Hogan- Crowd is still hot for Hogan.
I Quit Match: Mick Foley vs. Ric Flair- With just a little tweaking here and there, this could have been a great match. Instead, it was a bit too slow and too much blood without much of a "Ohh!!" factor to it.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Batista vs. King Booker- This feud really didn't get started until a few weeks ago so to have Booker T retain with a DQ is actually the right call.
DX vs. Vince and Shane- Vince has the Spirit Squad, Ken Kennedy, William Regal, Finlay, and Umaga to him them but they still lose to DX.
WWE Title Match: John Cena vs. Edge- Cena is booked as being from Boston but the crowd was anymore or less in his favor than anywhere else. Any live crowd seems to respond to him though, it's amazing.
- - 2006 Unforgiven - -
September 17 in Toronto, Canada
(Live (VG))
IC Title Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro- Good to see two good talents fighting over the IC title. Match could have been better but was still a good opener.
Umaga vs. Kane
Tag Team Title Match: Highlanders vs. Spirit Squad
Hell in a Cell Match: DX vs. Vince, Shane, and Big Show- Match was nothing special inside a newer cage but it had its moments and the way it ended (DX stuffing Vince's face in Big Show's crack, Michaels giving Shane an elbow from the top while a chair is wrapped around Shane's neck, and Triple H breaking a sledgehammer over Vince's back) closed the chapter (I hope) of the Shawn Michaels/DX feud with the McMahons.
Women's Title Match: Trish Stratus vs. Lita- Trish wins with the sharpshooter as the Canadian crowd goes crazy. Trish can now ride off into the subset and retire. Somewhere, Bret is complaining and wondering why he couldn't have that ending 9 years ago.
Randy Orton vs. Carlito- Carlito will be main eventing soon if he keeps improving in the ring like he has lately. He loses this match however.
WWE Title, TLC match: John Cena vs. Edge- Excellent match here with a super hot crowd. Tons of innovative spots here and the key word is innovative. Edge took most of the bumps but in the end, Cena comes out on top. His strange facial reaction after he won was a little odd. Good ppv overall though.
- - 2006 No Mercy - -
October 8 in Raleigh, NC
(Live (VG))
Matt Hardy vs. Gregory Helms
Tag Team Title Match: KC James and Idol Stevens vs. Brian Kendrick and Paul London
Miz/Layla Segment
MVP vs. Scrub- MVP makes his debut against a jobber on ppv. Hmmm.
Ken Kennedy vs. Undertaker
Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio
William Regal vs. Chris Benoit- Benoit returns.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Batista vs. Finlay vs. Bobby Lashley vs. King Booker
- - 2006 Cyber Sunday - -
November 5 in Cincinnati, OH
(Live (VG))
Kane vs. Umaga
IC Title Match: Carlito vs. Jeff Hardy
Highlanders vs. Viscera and Charlie Haas vs. Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch vs. Cryme Tyme
DX vs. Edge and Randy Orton
Women's Title Match: Lita vs. Mickie James
Tag Team Title Match: Ric Flair and Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Spirit Squad- Flair and Piper win the tag titles, even though the "E" was pushing for Dusty Rhodes to be Flair's partner.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Big Show vs. John Cena vs. King Booker- Everyone knew there wouldn't be a title change on this.
- - 2006 Survivor Series - -
November 26 in Philadelphia, PA
(Live (VG))
Ric Flair, Sgt. Slaughter, Ron Simmons, Arn Anderson, and Dusty Rhodes vs. Spirit Squad
US Title Match: Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit
Women's Title Match: Mickie James vs. Lita- Lita loses in her last match as Cryme Tyme come out to auction off Lita's things to the crowd.
Shawn Michaels, Triple H, CM Punk, Matt and Jeff Hardy vs. Edge, Randy Orton, Mike Knox, Johnny Nitro, and Gregory Helms- CM Punk was way over with the Crowd.
First Blood Match: Mr. Kennedy vs. Undertaker- Not much wrestling going on tonight but I was more letdown by this match than the others. The build up to this was great but the pay off was not.
John Cena, Bobby Lashley, Kane, Rob Van Dam, and Sabu vs. John Cena, Umaga, Finlay, MVP, and Test
World Heavyweight Title Match: Batista vs. King Booker- Match was bad, way bad. Batista wins with nothing but punches, kicks, and nothing else. Major letdown of a ppv.
- - 2006 December to Dismember - -
December 3 in Augusta, GA
(Live (VG))
MNM vs. Hardy Boys- Very WWE-like crowd which is completely different than the first two ECW One Night Stands. This would make for a horrible night although this match wasn't that bad.
Balls Mahoney vs. Matt Striker
Sylvester Terkay and Elijah Burke vs. FBI
Tommy Dreamer vs. Daivari
Kevin Thorn and Ariel vs. Mike Knox and Kelly Kelly
ECW Title, Elimination Chamber Match: CM Punk vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Hardcore Holly vs. Test vs. Big Show- Big show loses. No surprise but to some people's surprise, Lashley wins and only the true WWE marks gave a damn. What did Lashley do to deserve the title? And because Vince wanted him to get all the cheers, RVD and Punk were eliminated early and that pretty much summed up the horrible night of ECW.
- - Armageddon 2006 - -
December 17 in Richmond, VA
(Live (VG))
Inferno Match: MVP vs. Kane
Tag Team Title, Ladder Match: Dave Taylor and William Regal vs. Hardy Boys vs. MNM vs. Brian Kendrick and Paul London- Awesome match with Joey Mercury taking a nasty looking bump, breaking his nose and having to leave to go to a hospital. London and Kendrick retain, helping them to establish themselves as legit champions.
Mike Mizanin vs. Boogeyman
US Title Match: Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit
Cruiserweight Title Match: Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Gregory Helms
Last Ride Match: Mr. Kennedy vs. Undertaker- Fun match as it looks like this will end their feud, which was a good one with good promos by both guys.
Diva Bikini Segment
King Booker and Finlay vs. John Cena and Batista
