WWE PPV 03

- - 2003 Royal Rumble - -
January 19 in Boston, MA
(Home Video (VG))
Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar- No F-5 that Brock has done to the Big Show has looked as good as when he did it the first time a few months ago.
Tag Team Title Match: Dudley Boyz vs. Lance Storm and William Regal
Dawn Marie vs. Torrie Wilson
World Heavyweight Title Match: Scott Steiner vs. Triple H
WWE Title Match: Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle
Royal Rumble: Won by Brock Lesnar who throws our Undertaker to win. Shawn Michaels was in the match as he was the first man in and the first man out. So ask myself, self? Why did they even bother?
- - 2003 No Way Out - -
February 23 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
(Home Video (VG))
Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho- Good match to start the ppv. Shawn Michaels comes in at the end to help Jeff Hardy and most of the crowd is booing HBK. This event was held in Montreal, Canada; same place as Survivor Series 1997 and this was HBK's first time back since then. I'm surprised how many people remember.
Tag Team Title Match: Kane and Rob Van Dam vs. William Regal and Lance Storm
Cruiserweight Title Match: Matt Hardy vs. Billy Kidman- Matt Hardy is the new cruiserweight champ.
Big Show vs. Undertaker
Team Angle vs. Chris Benoit, Edge, and Brock Lesnar
World Heavyweight Title Match: Scott Steiner vs. Triple H
Steve Austin vs. Eric Bischoff
The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan- The Rock as a heel, his best role. Does anyone else look at the Rock's tattoo and think "Mike Tyson"? I know they aren't the same or even in the same place, but they both latch out to you. Vince comes out to "You Screwed Bret" chants.
- - 2003 Wrestlemania 19 - -
March 30, 2003 in Seattle, WA
(Home Video (VG))
Cruiserweight Title Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Matt Hardy
Undertaker vs. Big Show and Albert- A Handicapped match because Nathan Jones was attacked in the back before the match.
Women's Title Match: Trish Stratus vs. Jazz vs. Victoria- Victoria is probably the only woman in the WWE at the moment who has a gimmick that I actually care about. Everyone else is just TnA, trying to wrestle. Trish wins this one.
Tag Team Title Match: Los Guerreros vs. Rhyno and Chris Benoit vs. Team Angle
Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels- Great match. A few mistakes during the match but they recovered well as the match turned out great.
TnA Segment: Miller Light Cat Fat Girls, Stacy Keibler, and Torrie Wilson all involved. The brunette Miller Light girl is way hot! Segment was dumb though.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Booker T vs. Triple H- "We want a champion who has Johnny Cochran on speed dial" - King about Booker T. Funny line.
Vince vs. Hulk Hogan
The Rock vs. Steve Austin- The Rock finally comes out on top against Austin at Wrestlemania.
WWE Title Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle- Lesnar wins a great match where we saw Angle go on with the match, being the man that he is, knowing that he had a bad neck and doctors were telling him that he shouldn't work the match. Lesnar went for a shooting star press and landed awkwardly on his neck; very painful just to watch. This Wrestlemania didn't disappoint.
- - 2003 Backlash - -
April 27 in Worcester, MA
(Network)
Tag Team Titles: Los Guerreros vs. Team Angle- Los Guerreros lose the match but steal the titles and take off.
Sean O'Haire vs. Rikishi
World Tag Team Title Match: Dudley Boys vs. Rob Van Dam and Kane
Women's Title Match: Jazz vs. Trish Stratus- Jazz is the new women's champ.
Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show- After the match, they do a quick stretcher scene and while Mysterio is strapped to the board (which goes on the stretcher), Big Show comes out, picks him up, and slams him against the ringpost while he is still tied up. I've never seen that before so I consider that a good spot.
Torrie Wilson/Stacy Keibler Segments/Brawl
WWE Title Match: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar- Cena's first big match. I want to say that these two had bad chemistry in the ring due to some mistakes near the end. The again, maybe they had good chemistry because they recovered well. People also said that this would make or break John Cena. I say it was somewhere in between, but leaning towards make. Decent match but it was nice to see fresh talent rather than two "veterans" who refuse to put each other over (point at Triple H).
Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, and Triple H vs. Booker T, Shawn Michaels, and Kevin Nash- Kevin Nash's return match, only to be pinned by Triple H. A bit of a slow match.
The Rock vs. Goldberg- "You think Snoop Doggy Dog belongs to Charlie Brown"- The King said this to the Coach. Crowd seemed behind The Rock more than Goldberg. A bit of a quick match for a main event as this PPV was average at best. Then again, maybe I was just spoiled because of last month's Wrestlemania because that was a damn good ppv.
- - 2003 Judgment Day - -
May 18 in Charlotte, NC
(Home Video (VG))
John Cena, Chuck Palumbo, and Johnny Stamboli vs. Rhyno, Brian Kendrick, and Chris Benoit
La Resistance vs. Test and Scott Steiner
Tag Team Title, Ladder Match: Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri vs. Team Angle- Eddie and Tajiri end Team Angle's impressive 4 month tag team title reign. Decent match that could have been better, but could have been worse as well.
IC Title, Battle Royal Match: Val Venis, Chris Jericho, Goldust, Lance Storm, Rob Van Dam, Christian, Test, Kane, and Booker T- Finally, the IC Title has come back to the WWE. It should have never been taken away in the first place. However if they abuse it like they did in the last 4 years or so, then they should get rid of it again. IC title should be prestigious, not just a piece of tin to change hands every show. Christian wins the match and is the new Intercontinental Champion.
Bikini Challenge: Torrie Wilson vs. Sable
Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Mr. America
World Title Match: Kevin Nash vs. Triple H- 3 Things about this match: 1, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair were supposed to be at ringside to add a little something to the match but they were quickly banned from ringside. 2, The match sucked, and 3, No one cared about the match going into the PPV so what do they do? End the match on a DQ?!?! I'm speechless now.
Women's Title Match: Trish Stratus vs. Victoria vs. Jacqueline vs. Jazz
WWE Title, Stretcher Match: Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar- Surprisingly, this was a good match with some good spots by both guys.
- - 2003 Bad Blood - -
June 15 in Houston, TX
(WWE Network)
Dudley Boys vs. Rodney Mack and Christopher Nowinski
Scott Steiner vs. Test
IC Title Match: Booker T vs. Christian
Steve Austin/Eric Bischoff/Mae Young Segment- A ridiculous segment.
Tag Team Title Match: La Resistance vs. Rob Van Dam and Kane- The green, La Resistance are the new tag team champions of Raw.
Chris Jericho vs. Goldberg- Jericho carries Goldberg to an acceptable match, much better than the Rock/Goldberg match at Backlash.
Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels- Not the classic as advertised that it was going to be but by far, the best match of the night. I'm hoping for a rematch.
Eric Bischoff/Steve Austin Segment
Hell in a Cell, World Title Match: Kevin Nash vs. Triple H- Mick Foley is the guest referee for this nothing special contest. Without Foley, this is a total dud but with him in there, it's at least watchable.
- - 2003 Vengeance - -
July 27 in Denver, CO
(Home Video (VG))
US Title Match: Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit- Great opener which sees Rhyno come in and spear Benoit, as Eddie wins the US Tournament and the title.
Billy Gunn vs. Jamie Noble
Bar Room Brawl- Ran by the APA and includes many superstars from the Smackdown roster. Your typical brawl, fun segment.
Tag Team Title Match: Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman vs. Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin- If you need proof that Smackdown is superior as far as wrestling goes, then look no further than the last 2 ppvs. They don't even come close. It's time to trade a few superstars to get Raw some better wrestling.
Stephanie vs. Sable
John Cena vs. Undertaker
Vince vs. Zack Gowen- Zack's first singles match. If he could gain some muscle mass, he would way over.
WWE Title Match: Big Show vs. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar- Kurt Angle wins the WWE title by pinning Lesnar.
- - 2003 SummerSlam - -
August 24 in Phoenix, AZ
(Home Video (VG))
Tag Team Title Match: Dudley Boys vs. La Resistance
Undertaker vs. Albert
Eric Bischoff vs. Shane
US Title Match: Tajiri vs. Chris Benoit vs. Rhyno vs. Eddie Guerrero
WWE Title Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle
Rob Van Dam vs. Kane
World Heavyweight Title, Elimination Chamber Match: Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Nash vs. Goldberg vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H- Triple H had an injury so he didn't work much of the match. Fun segment to watch as Goldberg went over well here and destroyed everyone.
- - 2003 Unforgiven - -
September 21 in Hershey, PV
(Home Video (VG))
Tag Team Title, Table Match: Dudley Boys vs. La Resistance- Dudleys are the new tag team champions.
Test vs. Scott Steiner- For "control" of Stacy Keibler part 86.
Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
Trish Stratus and Lita vs. Gail Kim and Molly
Last Man Standing Match: Shane vs. Kane
IC Title Match: Rob Van Dam vs. Chris Jericho vs. Christian
Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler vs. Coach and Al Snow
World Heavyweight Title Match: Bill Goldberg vs. Triple H- Finally, someone pins Triple H to get that title off of him. Goldberg is the new champion of Raw.
- - 2003 No Mercy - -
October 19
(Home Video (VG))
Cruiserweight Title Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Tajiri
Albert vs. Chris Benoit
Zack Gowen vs. Matt Hardy
APA vs. Basham Brothers
Vince vs. Stephanie- Vince wins the match and Stephanie is no longer GM of Smackdown.
John Cena vs. Kurt Angle
US Title Match: Big Show vs. Eddie Guerrero- Big Show wins the title.
WWE Title Match: Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar
- - 2003 Survivor Series - -
November 16 in Dallas, TX
(Home Video (VG))
John Cena, Chris Benoit, Hardcore Holly, Bradshaw, and Kurt Angle vs. Big Show, Albert, Nathan Jones, Matt Morgan, and Brock Lesnar- John Cena picks up Big Show for the F-U and the win!
Women's Title Match: Lita vs. Molly Holly
Ambulance Match: Shane vs. Kane
Tag Team Title Match: Los Guerreros vs. Basham Brothers
Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, Christian, Scott Steiner, and Randy Orton vs. Booker T, Dudley Boys, Rob Van Dam, and Shawn Michaels- Great stuff here with Shawn Michaels. Austin's teams loses so he is no longer Co-GM of Raw but of course the announcers acted like his career is over and that we will never see him again.
Buried Alive Match: Vince vs. Undertaker
World Heavyweight Title Match: Triple H vs. Goldberg
- - 2003 Armageddon - -
December 14 in San Antonio, TX
(Home Video (VG))
Mark Henry vs. Booker T
IC Title Match: Randy Orton vs. Rob Van Dam- Orton wins, as expected, to become the new IC champion.
Chris Jericho and Christian vs. Trish Stratus and Lita
Shawn Michaels vs. Batista
Maven vs. Matt Hardy
Tag Team Title Match- Many teams compete in this, but Batista and Ric Flair come out on top and are Raw's new tag champs.
Women's Title Match: Ivory vs. Molly Holly
World Heavyweight Title Match: Triple H vs. Kane vs. Goldberg- Triple H is the new champion as it's an "Evolution Night". How lame.
